Dozens of Albanians Protest against Lockdown Measures

Dozens of Albanians protested against prolonged lockdown measures on Thursday. Police violently interrupted the protest after protesters refused to disperse, and detained several of them.

Protesters claimed that they had informed the police about the protest and were keeping the recommended distance from each other.

However, police argued that protests are illegal under the ongoing state of emergency that was recently expanded for two more months more, until June 23.

Protesters called Prime Minister Edi Rama a dictator, denounced his alleged authoritarian-style governing and violation of human rights during the pandemic.
