Dutch Minister of Justice and Security Ferdinand Grapperhaus and his Albanian counterpart Minister of Justice Etilda Gjonaj launched a cooperation project between the School of Magistrates in Tirana and the Training and Judicial Studies Center in Utrecht, Netherlands. A cooperation agreement between the two institutions was signed during the Dutch minister’s visit today.
Minister Grapperhaus expressed his country’s full support for the justice reform in Albania, praising it as “monumental”.
Minister Gjonaj twitted that the ongoing justice reform was the only approach “to provide the Albanian citizens with the justice system they deserve: right, independent and worthy for a European state.”
In a joint press conference, the Dutch minister also criticized opposition’s resignation from parliamentary seats and commented on the ongoing protests against Prime Minister Edi Rama’s government.

It is regretful that the opposition has decided to resign from their mandates. Leaving the parliament is not a democratic solution to problems. The parliament is the forum where country’s critical issues should be treated, and it is the basis, the foundation of any democracy,” said minister Grapperhaus.
