After saying the closure of the Eagle Roundabout (Sheshi Shqiponja) roundabout would be delayed by at least a week, the traffic ban has in fact started today, Monday morning.
As of this morning, traffic will not be allowed to pass across the roundabout which serves as a major junction of arterial roads and the Great Ring. It also feeds into the Autostrad which is one of the main roads in and out of Tirana.
The Road Authority has notified citizens and asked them to use other roads instead. Only ambulances will be able to use this section of the road.
The closure is expected to last at least four months as construction works are carried out on and around the roundabout.
