EBRD Invests €100 Million in Tourism

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the EU will launch a €100 million investment tourist program in Albania.

During his visit to Albania, EBRD vice president Alain Pilloux declared that investment will mainly focus on small touristic businesses.

“We are preparing with the EU government an innovative program which will combine EBRD and EU money. It will be a huge, €100 million program.” Pilloux declared.

According to Pilloux, the program will stimulate tourism mainly via the construction of local roads and aqueducts, funding small businesses, and financing the preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

The program will be a mixed funding one, with half of the funds issued as soft loans to the government, and the rest as business grants.
