A Greek prosecutor in Thessaloniki has ordered a preliminary investigation into allegations and reports of a child trafficking ring operating in Albania and Greece, according to Greek media.
The allegations came following the arrest of a man last week for the double murder of two sisters. It was reported that he had coerced them for several years as prostitutes and to get pregnant and give birth in Greek maternity clinics.
It’s claimed that at least 10 children were born and then sold for a fee. The suspect, Preparim Ademi, told Albanian police that his motive for killing the sisters was that he thought they would reveal his criminal activity to the police.
The double murder caused outrage in Albania. Top Channel then broadcast and interview with one of the women’s 14-year-old children, inside the apartment, showing his face, and where evidence of the crime including blood could still be seen. The murders took place in front of the child.
