EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca stated today that the European Union is monitoring the implementation of the government’s controversial Anti Corruption Package.
Speaking to reporters in Tirana on Friday the Ambassador said the law is good in principle as it pursues dirty money, but it must be seen whether its implementation will be in line with human rights:
“What I can say is this special law applies a principle that has worked, following the money.
The law is clear to its subjects and for the EU right now the way the law is being implemented is important at this time.
We are closely monitoring the implementation of this law and continue to be in constant contact with the authorities and will meet with the head of the SPAK next week. It is important that the law is fully implemented and in accordance with human rights. ”
