Eurostat, 35 Thousand Albanians Obtain Italian Citizenship in One Year

According to the Eurostat report, during 2015, 83 thousand Albanians have been granted citizenship of one of the EU countries. Of these, 35 thousand have obtained Italian citizenship and 48 thousand citizenship of another EU country.

From 2006 to 2015, about 100,000 Albanians have been granted Italian citizenship.

These data rank Italy as the first country in the EU for the number of passports issued to foreign citizens. From 2006 to 2015 about 790,000 foreign citizens have been provided with an Italian passport.
