The European Broadcasting Union announced today that the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 is cancelled as a result of the spread of coronavirus throughout Europe.
Eurovision 2020 was scheduled to take place in May in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The EBU cited uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19 and travel restrictions put in place by a number of European countries, including the Netherlands, as the reasons for cancellation.
In its 64 year history, this is the first year the Eurovision Song Contest will not take place.
