First Coronavirus Patients Expose Poor Hospital Conditions

Hospital rooms prepared for patients infected with coronavirus at the Tirana’s main hospital lack proper hygiene and other conditions.

Ora News TV was provided with a video recording from the room where one of the infected is hospitalized. The television reported that father and son, the first two cases with COVID-19 in Albania, called them to seek help regarding the poor medical service they are receiving.

The two patients denounced the room conditions, lack of heat and services, including negligence by medical staff following the first treatment provided for them.

On February 27, Minister for Health Ogerta Manastirliu assured the public that the government was prepared to cope with a spread of infection in Albania. Prime Minister Edi Rama has also reiterated several times that the government preparations to deal with coronavirus are in line with WHO protocols.
