Five people were arrested on Thursday by the Korça police while transporting 25 illegal immigrants to Tirana.
Police initially arrested four people on the outskirts of the town of Maliq. They had promised transport from Korça, to Tirana and then to one of the northern crossing points. Some time later, another was arrested with four immigrants in the car.
For several months now the police have been arresting individuals almost daily for transporting third-country nationals through Albania. These individuals promise transit to the border of an EU country in exchange for several hundred euros each.
