Former PS Deputy Ervin Koçi has been elected director of the Financial Oversight Authority (AMF).
Educated as an economist, he was a deputy for the PS for 8 years. Koçi was proposed by the government for the position vacated by Enkelejda Shehi. His nomination passed the votes of the parliamentary committee for economical affairs.
Koçi’s nomination will officially confirmed by Parliament in the next session.
The former deputy from the county of Fier gave up his mandate on March 24. In a message to the citizens of Fier, Koçi suggested that he gave up his mandate of deputy to pick up an important position:
I inform you that I withdraw from all my political engagements and I aspire to take up public responsibility as a new possibility to make a further contribution as well as the continue my professional development.
Former AMF director Enkelejda Shehi was dismissed on March 9, after 5 years at the head of the institution.
The AMF is responsible for the regulation of and oversight over the financial system (except the banks) and the actors operating in that field.
