Fundraising Campaign Started to Pay Hospital Bills of Doctor Transferred to Italy

The family and colleagues of well-known doctor Drini Dobi have appealed for help in raising the funds for his COVID-19 treatment in Italy.

The doctor is currently being treated for the virus in Italian hospitals but due to mounting medical cost, a Go Fund Me was set up to cover them. The accompanying text states that many doctors have been infected and have died from the virus. and they want to try and save the life of Dobi. It continues that the financial expense of treatments is unaffordable by the family.

He was previously being treated in Albania but after his condition worsened, he was transferred to Italy. His family and friends could only fund transportation and the first few days in the hospital. Italian doctors have said he requires some weeks of treatment.

They write that they need some EUR 50,000 in order to pay the bills. A number of his colleagues working in Germany, Switzerland, France, and Italy have all called for help.

The doctor has been a neurologist at QSUT for over twenty years and for the last two years, he has been running the Neurovascular Service there.
