Nazer Seiti, who was arrested in Albania as member of the Habilaj gang and wanted by the Prosecution of Catania, will remain in jail. The Court of Serious Crime decided to increase the severity of sentence from “arrest with 20 days imprisonment” to “arrest with imprisonment.”
This verdict at the same time will block the extradition procedures to Italy until the investigation in Albania has been finished.
The request of the Prosecution to increase the severity of the measures is based on new proofs, more precisely a wiretap in which Seiti speaks with Moisi Habilaj to liberate an inmate with the nickname “Maloku” from jail for a sum of €200,000.
Nazer Seiti has confirmed his family links with the Habilaj brothers – his wife is a cousin of the Habilajs – but has refused to respond to the accusations of drug trafficking.
According to newspaper Panorama, the Prosecution of Serious Crimes has offered Seiti to become a collaborator, but Seiti refused.
Seite was arrested on October 19 during a police action in Babica when 4.5 tons of cannabis were seized.
