Haradinaj and Limaj Support Former KLA Fighters Indicted by The Hague

The leader of Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and former Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said that the Kosovo Liberation Army was a unity factor during the pride and sacrifice years.

Haradinaj made the comments following the confirmation of the war crimes indictment against now-former president of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and former parliament speaker Kadri Veseli.

“Today, all of us as people, but also as political leaders, must show national unity in the newly created circumstances. President Thaci, Veseli and all my co- fighters who are facing the international judiciary must have our and Kosovo’s government support, without any reservations,” Haradinaj wrote on Facebook.

Also, the leader of the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA) Fatmir Limaj reacted saying that several times it was required for the former KLA soldiers to face international judiciary institutions and none ever tried to avoid justice.

“Despite individual and family sufferings […] I am fully convinced that my co- warrior, the president of the country Mr Hashim Thaci and all other indicted will protect KLA’s war in a dignified way,” Limaj said.

Both Limaj and Haradinaj faced international trial accused of committing war crimes.

They were indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague but were found not guilty.

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office were established five years ago, in August 2015, by the Kosovo Parliament to investigate crimes allegedly committed by former Kosovo Liberation Army members.
