Ilir Meta Resigns as LSI Leader

President-Elect Ilir Meta has resigned from his function as the leader of the LSI. His resignation comes after he already violated his own party’s statutes for 5 years; the party leader of the LSI can only be elected for two mandates.

Petrit Vasili, the current Minister of Justice, will take over the function as leader of the junior party in the government coalition. In his speech, Vasili stated that the LSI aims to become the first party of the country:

We today have solemnly one, inalienable political objective. There is only one objective: LSI, the first force in the elections of 2017.

As there are no registered electoral coalitions, the LSI will enter the elections on its own.
