On April 30, in Italy and in other country, the leadership elections for the Italian Democratic Partu (PDI) were held to choose the National Secretary.
Just like four years ago, the regional office of the PDI in Tirana opened a voting center in the headquarters of the Socialist Party.
1.8 million Italians took part in the elections. Matteo Renzi took 70% of the votes, while Minister of Justice Andrea Orlando took 20%. Governor of Puglia Michele Emiliano won 10% of the votes.
Also because of the long weekend, only 29 Italian party members voted in Tirana, compared with 35 people last year. The results of the vote count in Tirana were as follows: 24 for Renzi, 4 for Orlando, and 1 invalid vote.
As Renzi won with more than half of the votes, an approval vote by the National Assembly is not necessary. He has been immediately elected National Secretary of the PDI.
