Journalist and managing director of RTV Dukagjini in Kosovo has received serious threats from a number of individuals on social media. Several of these included threats against his life.
Panduri then posted screenshots of some of the messages he received including one from a man who he said threatened his wife and family.
The threats came after he posted a video on Facebook of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci discussing the controversial land swap between Kosovo and Serbia. Panduri said that RTV Dukagjini knew of the threats and it had been reported to the police.
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo said that threats and hate speech against journalists on social media were becoming more serious and more frequent.
The threats and insults that Panduri has received are unacceptable for AJK. Therefore, we call on the competent authorities to deal with this case as soon as possible so that the intimidators are brought to justice”, it said in a statement.
The case was also reported on the Mapping Media Freedom portal.
