KF Vllaznia won the Albanian women’s football league for the seventh year in a row.
They kicked off celebrations yesterday after winning against Tirana AS 4-1.
The team managed an impressive 17 wins and one draw out of 18 matches this season. A total of 170 goals were scored and only 4 were conceded on the scoresheet.
Last year, Vllaznia made history by qualifying for the Champions League but were then eliminated by the Danish Fortuna Hjorring. This was the first time an Albanian club had reached the preliminary qualifying round.
The team hails from Shkodra and as formed in 2010.
Armand Duka, the president of the Albanian Football Federation, congratulated the players on their success.
“I want to congratulate the Vllaznia team which has been Albania’s champion in women’s football for the seventh consecutive year. A historic milestone for a team that’s writing the history of women’s football…
In addition to this, I really appreciate that Vllaznia has become a model for the many girls who want to play football, which must be taken as an example by all the teams. It is also an inspiration to invest even more in women’s football, which the Albanian Football Federation has indicated as one of the priorities for the future.”
