Klodian Shehi is the Socialist Party candidate – and only candidate – for the position of Mayor of Kavaja during the early local elections on May 7. The new elections were announced after the Constitutional Court refused former mayor Elvis Rroshi’s appeal to be reinstated in his post.
Rroshi had been dismissed in December 2016 by the Central Elections Commission (KQZ) after violating the decriminalization law.
Klodian Shehi will be the only candidate from a major party. LSI has refused to propose a candidate, stating that Kavaja “belongs to the PS.” The PD is boycotting the elections and has announced a large demonstration in the city on May 7.
