The Greek minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias visited Kosovo on Friday where he held separate meetings with Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, the Parliament speaker Vjosa Osmani and his Kosovo counterpart Meliza Haradinaj- Stublla.
A press release from the prime minister’s office reads that the topics discussed with Dendias focused on deepening bilateral cooperation, mainly in economy, and on the Kosovo- Serbia dialogue.
Hoti stressed Greece’s supporting role in Kosovo’s path towards the EU and NATO.
Dendias stated that Greece remains committed on helping Kosovo on its Euro- Atlantic path.
The speaker of parliament, Vjosa Osmani also said that during her meeting with Dendias they discussed economic development.
“We also discussed about the latest development on the dialogue and the European Integration process,” the statement issued from the Parliament reads.
Greece is one of the five European Union countries that does not recognize Kosovo as an independent country, among Spain, Slovakia, Cyprus and Romania.
The Greek minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias did a short comment at the airport on his arrival about the fact that his country does not recognize Kosovo’s independence.
According Prishtina- based newspaper Koha, Dendias said that the issue of recognizing Kosovo is a matter of establishing relations between the two countries.
