Kosovo Brings Back Movement Restrictions as Coronavirus Cases Surge

Kosovo will reinstate circulation restrictions in four cities, as a result of the surge in coronavirus infected cases.

Citizens of Prishtina, Ferizaj, Prizren, and Vushtrria will only be able to leave their homes from 5am to 9pm. Businesses will also be required to limit their activity within this time period.

Bars, restaurants, clubs, and similar businesses in the entire country will only be allowed to operate until 9pm.

Public transport, including buses and taxis, will be allowed to operate at half capacity and in strict observance of the health and safety protocols mandated by the Ministry of Health.

Kosovo’s public institutions have been advised to direct employees to work from home, with the exception of indispensable staff.

During the past five days, 557 new coronavirus infected cases have been found in Kosovo. On Saturday, 8 people succumbed to the virus, marking it as the deadliest day since the beginning of the pandemic in Kosovo.
