The government of Kosovo missed the chance to secure mutual recognition and a seat in the UN through the US-brokered deal, the opposition Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has stated.
In their statement on Friday, the PDK praised the US involvement, but slammed the government for signing a deal amidst lack of transparency. It added that Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti failed to bring home the outcomes promised, mutual recognition being the main promise.
They maintain that the deal is a serious violation of the Constitution of Kosovo, the country’s sovereignty and strategic interests.
The PDK’s stance has been and remains one: going to Washington and Brussels for a comprehensive final agreement between Kosovo and Serbia that guarantees mutual recognition, a seat in the UN and does not violate the territorial integrity of the country,” they concluded.
