Kosovo Government Set to Reduce Salaries of PM and Ministers

Albin Kurti, the new Prime Minister of Kosovo is due to convene the new government today.

Matters that he will address on his first day include possibly reversing the decision taken by his predecessor Ramush Haradinaj to raise salaries for the PM and ministers. It remains to be seen by how much Kurti will reduce the salaries of himself, ministers, and other senior officials.

At the end of 2017, Haradinaj raised his salary from €1500 to €2950 a month. The average wage of Kosovo is around €430 per month.

Update: The government revoked the Haradinaj decision and reduced salaries to the previous level of 2017. Kurti’s salary will be €1500.
