Kosovo Police Arrest Three Albanians for Trafficking Syrian Migrants

Kosovo border police have arrested 3 Albanians, who were trafficking 24 Syrian immigrants from Albania to Kosovo. Another suspected trafficker was declared wanted.

Kosovo Police noticed a group of Albanians who were monitoring the passage of Syrians into Kosovo territory at the Vermica border checkpoint. They tried to flee when they realized police had spotted them, and one of them was able to run away.

They are expected to be criminally charged for “trafficking of migrants”.

Police are working to uncover the traffickers’ scheme and extent of illegal operations.

In February, Albanian police arrested a man for trafficking migrants into Kosovo, while the Albanian and Italian coast guard rescued a boat with 18 Iraqi and Syrian migrants who were being smuggled to Italy.
