Kosovo Politician Indicted for War Crimes Says Prosecutor Is Politically Motivated

The leader of Kosovo’s Democratic league of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli has called the indictment against him and President Hashim Thaci politically motivated.

Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office in the Hague, created by the Kosovo Parliament, announced it had indicted  Thaci and Veseli along with several other former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

The news broke out while Thaci was on his way to Washington DC to attend a White House meeting with Serbian President Vladimit Vuci brokered by President Trump’s envoy Richard Grenell. The meeting was cancelled afterward.

In a press statement on Wednesday, Veseli, also a former Speaker of Parliament, said the timing of the announcement of indictments was not a coincidence and it was politically motivated.

“This shows that the prosecutor is not credible in giving impartial justice,” Veseli stated.

He further implied that charges against him and Thaci would be charges against the KLA.

“I will not allow this prosecutor and anyone else like him to tarnish the Kosovo Liberation Army in this way,” Veseli stated.
