Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi called on heads of institutions and party leaders to respect the Constitutional Court’s ruling that sided with him in granting the right to form a new government to the second largest party (LDK) and sidestepping the election winner (LVV).
In a press conference, Thaci welcomed the Court’s decision and said a new government must be formed as soon as possible. He called party leaders to cooperate for an orderly and democratic transition.
Thaci added that reforms in the judicial system, the economy, and other government institutions must continue. He called the EU to liberalize visas for Kosovo’s citizens, and encouraged the preservation and strengthening of Kosovo’s “special relationship” with the United States.
