The Pristina Inspectorate has fined the three largest political parties in Kosovo €2,000 each for violating the measures put in place against COVID-19, following electoral meetings where they failed to comply with restrictions.
The director of the Inspectorate in Pristina Municipality, Adonis Tahiri announced that they have fined the ruling Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), and Vetevendosje Movement.
“No one is above the law,” Tahiri wrote on Facebook, where he also published photos from each meeting of these political parties.
“Implementing measures and maintaining public health is an obligation for everyone,” Tahiri said.
This is the third fine in a short time for LDK, while Tahiri stated earlier that no one will be tolerated.
Kosovo has set February 14 for snap parliamentary elections, following a decision of the Constitutional Court that found the voting in of the current LDK-led government unconstitutional.
Citizens have been reacting on social media calling, on authorities to fine political parties when they publish photos from political rallies, appearing with no masks and in violation of related restrictions.
