Kosovo’s Outgoing Prime Minister to Run for Another Mandate

The leadership of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) decided for the outgoing Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti to be its candidate for Prime Minister on the coming snap parliamentary elections.

The leader of LDK, Isa Musafa said on Wednesday during a press conference that Hoti has led the Government in a right way and has shown that it enforces the law and fights crime and corruption.

“Government has done its job in a successful way, by renewing relations with the United States of America, European Union and financial institutions and restored the trust of these countries and institutions towards Kosovo,” Mustafa said.

Mustafa said that Hoti with his government managed in a very good way with the coronavirus pandemic.

However, he said he would also request the approval of the party’s General Council for Hoti’s candidacy for Prime Minister.

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo decided for the country to go on snap elections, by ruling that the voting of the Government was not valid due to a decisive vote by an already convicted MP.

As the Constitution of Kosovo foresees, the Acting President Vjosa Osmani held consultation meetings with political parties to decide on the date of snap elections.

Also, Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) already nominated Enver Hoxhaj as its candidate for Prime Minister.
