Kosovo’s Parliament to Vote on the Budget Before it Dissolves

The Assembly of Kosovo is expected to vote today on the Draft Law on the budget for 2021.

The draft budget law has been submitted to the Assembly by the outgoing Government and has been reviewed by the Committee on Budget and Transfers.

The Assembly of Kosovo is expected to dissolve soon, following a decision of the Constitutional Court which ruled that the voting on Government was in violation with Constitution due to a vote of an already convicted parliament member.

The European Union and other mechanisms have called for the Assembly not to be dissolved without the budget being approved.

Next year’s draft budget is worth 2.4 billion euros.

If the budget is not approved by December 31, the Assembly, by a decision, may authorize the continuation of the implementation of the Law on Budget Appropriations of the previous year.

This law cannot be implemented for more than three months of the coming year.
