President Hashim Thaçi has officially offered the mandate to form a new Kosovo government to Avdullah Hoti, the nominee of the second largest party Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).
In his decree, Thaçi proposed to parliament the candidacy of Hoti for country’s new prime minister.
Hoti will have 15 days to get at least 61 votes from Kosovo’s 120 MPs is support of his government.
Kosovo’s largest party Vetevendosje has accused the President and political parties involved in the process of unconstitutional actions. They claim the Constitution stipulates new elections after the coronavirus pandemic but not a new government. They will take the President’s decree to the Constitutional Court.
