Kosovo’s Prime Minister Calls The Pandemic a War Situation

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Avdullah Hoti called the pandemic “a war situation” while visiting the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Prishtina on Thursday.

“This is practically a war situation, every day we are facing a grave danger with victims”, he said.

He called for increased efficiency in service delivery at the University Clinical Center and Regional Hospitals, in order to better manage the second wave of the pandemic.

Hoti was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Armend Zemaj and the Acting Director of the University Hospital and Clinical Service of Kosovo, Saudin Maliqi.

“We are making maximum efforts together with the medical staff to improve the oxygen supply, to adapt the clinics with extra beds, to engage all the staff, doctors in different fields and to increase teamwork to help patients,” said Prime Minister Hoti said.

He said that will continue with intensive communication with Minister Zemaj as well as with all health institutions, to manage in the best possible way the pandemic situation in the country.

As of March 13, a total of 26,121 have been infected in Kosovo, of which 772 have lost their lives.
