Yesterday, the Central Election Commission (KQZ) voted in favor of redistributing the positions in the vote counting groups (GNV), by counting the PDIU as part of the majority.
Each GNV consists of four members, two of the majority and two of the opposition. By counting the PDIU as coalition partner, the second majority seats in all GNVs will now be equally distributed between the LSI and PDIU, effectively cutting the number of LSI positions in half in comparison with the 2015 local elections.
The other majority seat in the GNVs is occupied by the PS, from the opposition the seats are divided between the PD and PR.
The decision of the KQZ is considered yet another attempt of the PD and PS to limit the influence of the LSI on the elections. Earlier today, former LSI leader Ilir Meta warned that he wouldn’t decree any prime minister or minister unless the elections results were approved by all parties.
