Albin Kurti, as the only candidate for the Vetëvendosja party leadership, was reelected on Sunday with 99% of the votes. Kurti returns as leader of the Kosovar party after a period as deputy.
The party leadership elections were held two weeks after the resignation of party leader Visar Ymeri, after internal confrontations and rifts between the different camps inside the party. Participation was low with 30% of the members voting.
Former chairman Ymeri, as well as other party leaders who resigned with Ymeri, boycotted the elections.
Within Kosovar media there are increasingly strong speculations that a part of Vetëvendosja, the largest party in Kosovo, will split off.
