General Prosecutor Adriatik Llalla declared today that there may be additional deputies with criminal records whose mandates are at risk. Without giving an specific names, Llalla stated that there had been a large number of denunciations of public officials leading to investigations in the context of the decriminalization law. He said that the names will be made public once the investigations have been completed.
Two deputies and one mayor have already lost their mandates, while the General Prosecution is currently investigating six other deputies and three other mayors, the majority of them belonging to the ruling parties.
From the city of Fier, Llalla also addressed the worries of the inhabitants of Zharrëz, whose houses have been damaged by the oil drilling activities of Bankers Petroleum. He promised that soon there would be a full investigation of this problem. For the last three weeks the inhabitants of Zharrëz have been in a hunger strike against the negligence of the central government.
