LSI Leader Vasili: Let PS & PD Form a Government

LSI leader Petrit Vasili spoke yesterday evening with journalist Blendi Fevziu about the agreement between the PD and PS to solve the political crisis as well as the position of his own party in an election race without pre-electoral coalitions.

Vasili explicitly credited the LSI for its role in solving the crisis that ended with the McAllister+ agreement:

The crisis was solved after the insistence of the LSI, after an unjustified loss of time which inflicted great damage on the country.

A government was created that Ilir Meta called in his proposal a government of trust, that creates trust for the opposition to enter the elections. So everything we insisted upon from the beginning until the end happened with full precision.

Although Vasili blamed both parties for the political crisis, he put the main blame on Prime Minister Edi Rama, whose PS has been a coalition partner of the LSI for the last four years.

Only the irresponsibility of these two parties, the PD and PS, has extended the crisis and inflicted great damage on the country. The two sides caused the country to suffer from the crisis for a very long time.

Rama was mainly responsible, and one of the people who should have solved the solved the crisis that he himself prolonged.

I am ready for the Electoral Code and all the political agreements to be violated and to give the PD and PS the possibility to form a coalition. If they are so worried, let them do it now.

In terms of the coalition itself, Vasili admitted that “coalitions have been a forced choice imposed by the Electoral Code, and in no way a desire of the LSI.” He would rather identify the success of the coalition with the large reforms, such as the territorial and judicial reform that is was able to accomplish, rather than with their collaboration with the PS.

LSI has not gained any mandate because of being in the coalition. It is has received less mandates than it was entitled to and has contributed at least two mandates to the Socialist Party.

Now that the LSI is entering the elections alone, Vasili is convinced that it will become the largest party in the country:

One know one thing for sure, that the LSI will be the largest party.
