On Friday, Luxembourg donated 5,000 extraction test kits to Kosovo’s Institute of Public Health through UNDP.
An agreement between the UNDP and Luxembourg stipulates that a total value of €1 million will go to aid for Kosovo, of which €460,000 will be used for purchase of up to 20,000 COVID-19 test kits.
The aid is planned to help Kosovo in the successive phases of the epidemic, to efficiently trace the spread of the virus and localize the hot spots, as a way to help in in forecasting and planning the containment strategy.
The remaining amount of the contribution will be used for humanitarian support to families affected by the epidemic.
Minister of Health Arben Vitia and UNDP Resident Representative Maria Suokko were present at the handover of the donation at the Institute of Public Health of Kosovo.
Kosovo has registered 27 coronavirus-related deaths and 861 cases in total.
