A shipment of 10,000 face masks, suspected of having been manufactured in Albania, was confiscated on August 11 at the Italian port of Ancona.
The shipment was seized as its country of origin was not declared and the masks were supposedly ”made in Italy,” even as they were entering Italy via the port.
The indications on the masks could mislead consumers, in violation of Italian law, which is why they were confiscated by the Customs Police.
Authorities suspect that the masks would be sold on the Italian market as COVID-19 preventative masks.
