Main Roads in Albania Cleared Three Days after Snowfall

The Albanian government took three days to clear the roads of Saturday snowfall, despite millions of euros spent on road maintenance.

The Albanian Road Authority (ARA) informed on Wednesday that the national roads in the country are cleaned and the traffic is running smoothly.

It announced that contractors for road maintenance have cleaned and distributed salt overnight to clear the roads.

“All drivers should be equipped with winter tires or chains due to frost,”  ARA announced.

On February 13, roads across the country were blocked due to snowfall. Hundreds of citizens were stranded for hours in the snow on Saturday.

Out of 10 companies that won the maintenance tender, only Geci company is being investigated for non-maintenance of a road segment.
