In a meeting with Socialist Party members in the Kombinat neighborhood of Tirana former Prime Minister Pandeli Majko stated yesterday that even with a caretaker government the PS would be able to buy votes.
Majko’s remark was apparently meant ironically, trying to undermine the opposition’s reasons for its protest in front of the Prime Ministry:
We are not planning to lock ourselves up in a tent of in the office, we will meet those who have given us power and only they can remove that power with the vote of June 18. If they want a caretaker government they can find at the voting committee, that is the technical government of the elections. And if someone thinks that the socialists wouldn’t be able to buy votes under a caretaker government – we have the money, so why wouldn’t we spend it? Or would the one who heads the caretaker government save us money? They’re wrong.
