A 31-year-old man was shot dead and another one was wounded today in one of the most populated areas in Shkoder.
Fatos Ferracaku was shot with an automatic gun at 11:15am at the entrance of the “Rus Grocery” in Partizani neighborhood in Shkoder. Fetmir Mehaj, a fish merchant at the grocery, was also wounded.
The victim is a relative of Arjan Ferracaku, the 30-year old businessman executed with an automatic gun in September, 2018, while he was riding a horse. The police has not solved the murder yet.
The police suspect that Fatos Ferracaku was killed by two men in a motorcycle, which was found burnt in an area called the “Guerrile Neighborhood”, close to the murder scene.
In the last few months, several mafia-style killings have occurred in Shkodra, transforming the city into one of the most dangerous hotbeds of crime in the country. In all cases, the police didn’t manage to find any clear investigation tracks, and no arrests have been made.
- On June 18, Mehdi Kavaja, the owner of an auto-repair shop, was executed with a head shot.
- On July 15, former police officer Boran Bërçana and his wife Silvana Ndoci were murdered in their car.
- On August 10, Fatbardh Lici was shot at and killed during the day, as he was sitting in a cafe. Bici was the brother-in-law of Lulzim Kulla, known as a strongman in Shkodra.
- On September 1, businessman Arjan Ferracaku was executed in Livadhë.
Firearms have been used in all the murders, and the culprits have been careful to avoid leaving behind any identifying clues.
