Minister of Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati has today responded to the accusations of Macedonian politicians that Albanian is intervening in the internal affairs of Macedonia. In a press conference, Minister Bushati said:
Albania is not involved in Macedonia, but offers friendly advice.
Macedonian President Gjorgje Ivanov has again refused to give SDSM leader Zoran Zaev a mandate to form a coalition government together with the Albanian minority parties, with whom he forms a majority in Parliament.
The reason is still the so-called Tirana Agreement, which was discussed and signed by the Albanian minority parties in January 2017 in the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Macedonian politicians, including President Ivanov, qualified this agreement, which was part of the coalition negotiations in Macedonia, as an intervention of Tirana into Macedonian internal politics.
As a result, Macedonia remains already since December 2016 without government.
