Movement Restrictions to Be Lifted in Most of Albania on May 11

Starting from Monday, May 11, coronavirus preventative measures will be lifted in most of Albania.

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that in the entire country, with the exception of ‘high risk’ areas, citizens and personal cars will now be allowed to circulate freely until 9pm. Public gatherings of more than five people, cultural and sport activities remain prohibited. Public transport and businesses that have been mandated to close, like malls, will also remain closed.

The above does not apply to the ‘high risk’ areas of Tirana, Durrës, Shkodra, Fier, Kruja, and Kurbin. Circulation in these cities will remain restricted, with citizens needing permits to go out. Additionally, they will be blocked off by checkpoints, and no unauthorized vehicles will be allowed to enter or exit.
