A small plane crash has been reported in Vermosh in the far north of Albania, not far from the border with Montenegro. The pilot and passenger were not found at the scene and it’s believed a car picked them up and whisked them away.
An eyewitness told the media that the plane landed and then tried to take off again. According to local shepherds, it appears to have suffered some kind of defect, fell on a fence, then a pine tree, before coming to a halt.
Then, a car pulled up and they got inside before driving off. Police said there are no houses nearby, only shepherds and pastures.
The area is known for cannabis cultivation although no link between drugs and the mysterious crash have been identified.
