National Ombudsman and ONM Starts Assessment Additional Vetting Candidates

Today the National Ombudsman has started the assessment of additional certificates of an unknown number of applicants for the three vetting institutions, the Independent Qualification Commission (KPK), the Appeals college (KA), and the Public Commissioners, from the National Ombudsman.

The National Ombudsman had reopened the application procedure for 79 candidates who formally qualified but didn’t send in all the formally required documentation.

According to the announcement on the website of the EU Delegation in Tirana, the International Monitoring Mission (ONM) will subsequently reassess the applications, before the National Ombudsman will return them to Parliament.

In continuity with the previous exercise and the legal requirements, the IMO [=ONM] international observers will also review the documentation. If relevant, an updated reasoned assessment and recommendations on relevant candidates will be issued by the IMO, based on the findings of the international observers.
