“New” Opposition Grows to 10 MPs

On Monday, the Central Election Commission (KQZ) announced that four MPs of the opposition party LSI have decided to take up the mandates left by the previous MPs.

Aurora Mara (Dibra), Enver Roshi (Elbasan), Ylli Shehu (Tirana), and Edmond Rrushi (Tirana) picked up their mandates by sending in their decriminalization forms and being confirmed by the KQZ.

Together with LSI MP Lefter Koka (Durrës), who refused to resign, the LSI is now represented by 5 MPs in Parliament.

Of the PD, Rudina Hajdari (Tirana) and Myslim Murrizi (Fier) refused to resign from their mandates, while Lefter Maliqi picked up the seat from Berat. Both Murrizi and Maliqi were expelled from the PD and are now independent MPs. Hajdari has not yet been expelled. However, the website of Parliament still lists Hajdari and Murrizi as representatives of the PD parliamentary group.

Although PDIU joined the boycott of the opposition, its MPs have refused to resign from their mandates. PDIU MP Dritan Bici has joined the PS, whereas the other two continue as MPs without parliamentary group, together with Tom Doshi (PSD), and Gjetan Gjetani, who was expelled from the PS.
