New Photovoltaic Park Licensed in Fier

The Albanian Energy Regulatory Authority has issued a license for another photovoltaic plant that will generate energy for the free market and supply some to the state.

The granting of the license represents the latest in a flurry of energy diversification in the country including solar, wind, and natural gas.

Located in Sheq Marinas, Fier, the license is granted to a private enterprise that will not benefit from any government subsidies and will sell its energy on the free market. The government will however be entitled to a contracted amount which can be redeemed against the cost on the market at the time.

The license will be granted for a period of 50 years and it must be operational by July 2023.

SPV BLUE 1 shpk will run the site with an installed capacity of 50MW.

Recently, the government agreed on two contracts with the company Voltlia for a plant in Karavasta and one in Spitale for 15 years.
