New Piepoli Poll Trumpets PS

Yesterday night Piepoli/Report TV published it second election poll, claiming a sound victory for the PS. The party would not only gain a majority in Parliament, but, according to the interviewees consulted, also have the most effective campaign.

In response to a series of queries, more than 40% of the interviewees thought that the PS had the most effective campaign, and with most convincing arguments in the fields of judicial reform, care for the environment, and the fight against corruption, drugs, and organized crime. This is rather surprising result, as most of the campaign rhetoric of all parties is centered on attacking others – in the case of the PS, mainly the LSI and “small parties.”

Prime Minister Rama has made hardly any comment about the fight against corruption, drugs, and organized crime, which are themes that are generally absent from the campaign so far.

The result of Piepoli/Report TV follows the pattern of their last poll, projecting the PS around 6% higher than IPR/Ora News at 47±2% nationwide. The PD continues to hover around its 2013 election result, while LSI drops to 9%. IPR/Ora News consistently put PD and LSI at an increase.

Piepoli/Report TV also held polls in 6 electoral zones, showing good results for the PS throughout. Remarkable is the uptick of the LSI in Korça, where the pollster expect the LSI to double their number of mandates.

Otherwise, the Piepoli/Report TV poll reveals that other than a further consolidation of the vote, current events – or the campaign – have very little influence on how people report their vote in polling interviews.
