The head of the microbiology laboratory at QSUT, Andi Koraqi stated that Albania does not need a full quarantine, as the situation with COVID-19 is under control.
In an interview with ABC News on Monday, Koroqi said that the number of newly infected people has stabilized and the situation in hospitals is manageable.
“Because the numbers are not high and we have an almost stable situation, the numbers of new infections have not increased, the depletion of hospital capacity has not happened, so there is no reason to lockdown.”
He stressed that the temporary measures taken so far have worked so there is no need to intensify them:
“We can continue with the same situation with the schedules, with the schools with the flights. These measures have somehow yielded results and I see no reason to aggravate or alleviate them.”
Currently in Albania, the total number of infected with COVID-19 has reached 67,690 of which 25,960 people are still infected.
