An opposition MP candidate in the Albanian elections threated with murder those who attempt to buy votes in the April 25 elections.
Xhelal Mziu of the Democratic Party told a crowd of supporters that those who are suspected of engaging in vote-buying could have the same end of the man shot dead in Elbasan earlier this week, allegedly over arguments related to vote-buying.
“We have established special teams. If you see any suspicious person moving in your neighborhoods, just make a phone call and they will have the same end of the one in Elbasan,” Mziu stated on Friday in Diber.
He issued an apology shortly after, following backlash on media, television and social media.
The police announced criminal proceedings started against Mziu.
