The Speaker of the Assembly, Gramoz Ruçi has suspended parliamentary opposition MP Adriatik Alimadhi from the assembly for calling him a “dirty communist” and the Socialist Party a “communist criminal party.”
Ruci, who served as the Minister of the Interior during the Communist regime, expelled Alimadhi from the Assembly for a period of 10 days for his comments.
In July, Alimadhi was subjected to a barrage of insults from Prime Minister Edi Rama including suggestions he was illiterate and stupid. Rama also said:
“My father was a communist like many others; they were on the right side of history.”
A diaspora group of activists and internationals have called for a vote of no-confidence against Rama because of these comments.
